Haddock; the unsung fishy hero of chippies up and down and the country. My local fishmonger, F.C. Soper’s on Nunhead high street, is one of my favourite places in London. They sell immaculate fish and the folks who own it are a dream. Of all the sparkling seafood on display, draped over ice, the haddock isn’t turning many heads. But, where some see the poor man’s cod, a bland white fish void of flavour, I see potential. Lightly spiced batter brings this delicate, luxuriously flakey fish to life. A simple seasonal yoghurt for dipping too? Yes please.
